POSITION: Gift Planning Officer

DEPARTMENT: Financial Resource Development/ Atlanta Jewish Foundation

For over a century, Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta (Federation) has served as a cornerstone of the Jewish community by raising funds that enable it to care for the community’s needs today, while investing in its future tomorrow- both in Atlanta and abroad. 

The Senior Gift Planning Officer (SGPO) reports to and assists the Senior Director of Atlanta Jewish Foundation (formerly, Federation’s Planned Giving and Endowment Department) in the continuing development and implementation of Atlanta Jewish Foundation’s activities. The primary focus of this position will be to promote Atlanta Jewish Foundation and its capacity to broaden and diversify financial resource development to benefit the Jewish community.  The SGPO will develop relationships with current and prospective donors, as well as local professional advisors (attorneys, accountants, life insurance advisors, and financial/investment advisors).  The position coordinates with the Senior Director on executing programs for fundholders and professional advisors, marketing to fundholders and professional advisors and tracking and monitoring relationships with fundholders and professional advisors.

 

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in implementing annual gift planning strategies that support achievement of Foundation goals and are within budget parameters.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and track donors and professional advisors through personal meetings, referrals, networking, presentations, telephone, publications, special events and mailings.
  • Assists in managing meetings and events that further the Foundation’s goals.
  • Work in partnership with Federation’s Marketing Department to develop Foundation marketing materials.
  • Prepare calculations for prospective and existing fundholders and their professional advisors using gift planning software.
  • Represent the Foundation at various community activities and events.
  • Maintain quality record keeping/tracking system on planned and major gifts.
  • Conduct 100-150 face-to-face visits per year with prospective donors, existing fundholders and professional advisors.
  • Conduct 4 presentations about Atlanta Jewish Foundation and the services it offers and/ or promoting gift planning techniques at local professional firms (e.g. law, accounting, financial advisors, insurance planning) per year.
  • Coordinate with the Federation professionals overseeing governance to ensure all Foundation policies, procedures and governance are in compliance with existing Federation policies, procedures and governance.
  • Be able to discuss and promote all offerings of Atlanta Jewish Foundation including donor advised funds, planned gifts, restricted (designated) funds, agency funds, unrestricted gifts, and community initiatives.
  • Review all past gift agreements to ensure compliance with current Foundation policies.
  • Ensure all new gift agreements are memorialized and comply with Foundation policies.
  • Work with local Jewish agencies and synagogues to determine how the Foundation can support their planned giving and endowment needs.
  • Work with fundholders to promote transformational giving opportunities that align with Federation’s mission and strategic objectives.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred – Professional designation(s) such as JD, CPA, CFP, CLU, ChFC desirable.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in fundraising/development, planned giving, financial planning, sales and/or equivalent academic experience;
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively with donors and professional advisors.
  • Team player, able to facilitate and/or be a productive member of sub-departmental, departmental and cross-functional teams.
  • Superior writing, public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Event planning skills.

 

Compensation:   

To be determined based upon experience and qualifications. This position is exempt, and employee is eligible for the Federation’s health and benefits plan.
