In the wake of a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that has caused widespread damage and a growing death toll that has affected Afghanistan, India and Pakistan, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee is on the ground assessing the urgent humanitarian needs of communities hard hit and has made two emergency grants to disaster relief organizations in the region.

In response to the current wave of Arab terror attacks largely focused around Jerusalem, resulting in loss of businesses, the UJA-Federation of New York announced that it has allocated no less than $200,000 in capital, so as to provide around 5.4 million shekels ($1.4 million) in emergency business loans.
