Emerging Leadership Project

The Emerging Leadership Project (ELP) is a comprehensive six-month program aimed to actively engage dynamic leaders- “rising stars”- more meaningfully in the work of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta.

At the conclusion of the program, participants will take on a leadership role at the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. These volunteer opportunities represent broad cross-sections of the organization. Participants will be able to indicate their preference as to areas of interest, which include but are not limited to, Financial Resource Development, Community Impact, Israel and Overseas, Engagement, and Marketing.

 


Who is ELP’s target audience?

Individuals who: 

 

  • Individuals who have demonstrated leadership skills and have a desire to further hone them to benefit their lives personally, professionally and in relation to the Jewish community
  • Are between ages 25-45
  • Currently live in the Greater Atlanta area
  • Have a strong interest in the work of Federation and some previous experience as a Federation volunteer
  • Are committed to Jewish philanthropy and have a passion for a strong Jewish future
  • Have a desire to have future volunteer involvement with Federation

 

How will ELP participants benefit from the program?

 

  • Participants will have access to senior level Federation lay leaders, who are accomplished individuals in their professional careers as well as in the Jewish community.
  • Enhance their valuable leadership skills that can be applied to both their personal and professional lives.
  • Develop a deeper understanding about the role that Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta plays in our local and global Jewish community.
  • Build relationships with and network with contemporaries in the program.

 

Details about the program:

 

The ELP curriculum will cover topics ranging from an analysis of your personal leadership style to the history of the Atlanta Jewish community, an overview and understanding of the National Federation system, an in-depth look at our Greater Atlanta Jewish Federation, Federation’s international partners, how to be an effective Jewish leader, and more.  Participants are encouraged to share feedback or questions they have about Federation, with the goal of incorporating it into the program. 
 

The program will begin with a Sunday kick-off retreat on Sunday, October 11, followed by a team building session on Sunday, November 1.  Learning sessions will be monthly, scheduled from January-May 2016. Sessions will be held in the evening for approximately three hours and include dinner.
 

In addition to these sessions, participants will have various opportunities available to them such as attending a Federation board meeting, being paired with a Federation volunteer mentor, participating in direct service projects, and attending social gatherings for program participants.
 

Full participation in this program is expected; however, we understand that personal and professional circumstances arise. Participants may miss up to one monthly session, with advanced notice to the program chair or professional.

 

Participants in the program are expected to:

 

  • Attend the opening Sunday retreat on October 11
  • Attend the team building activity on November 1
  • Attend monthly program sessions between January and May
  • Complete the Information Profile and pay a one-time $250 program fee that will cover food and materials by September 18, 20151
  • Make a minimum gift of $365 to the 2016 Federation Community Campaign
